06 minor children rescued and 02 accused in custody
Prayagraj: On the occasion of International Day Against Child Labour, North Central Railway’s Railway Protection Force, Mirzapur, achieved a significant success by conducting a special campaign against human trafficking and child labour on June 12, 2026. This campaign was conducted under Operation “Aahat” under the guidance of senior officers and supervision of the Inspector-in-Charge, in collaboration with the Association for Voluntary Action, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar.
During the operation, special surveillance was maintained on train number 12487 Jogbani-Anand Vihar Terminal Express from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction to Mirzapur station. During the investigation, two suspicious individuals were found traveling with six minor children in the general class coach of the train. They were disembarked at Mirzapur station and questioned, which revealed that the children were being lured with the promise of employment and taken to Delhi and Aligarh, where they were likely to be forced into child labor.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the RPF took immediate action, safely rescuing all six minor children, and detained the two suspects. The accused were identified as Mohammad Manojuddin and Mohammad Ismail, residents of Araria district, Bihar. Mobile phones, cash, travel tickets, and other items were recovered from their possession.
Following a preliminary investigation and necessary questioning, both accused were handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Mirzapur, for further legal action. All rescued minor children were then handed over to the Railway Child Help Desk/Childline, Mirzapur, to ensure the necessary processes of protection, counseling, and rehabilitation.
The Railway Protection Force has appealed to the general public to immediately inform the RPF or the concerned administrative agencies about any suspicious activity related to human trafficking or child labour, so that effective action can be ensured in time.
