First member from family to attend college, now a techie

Bisalpur: Jagdish Chandra, a 22-year-old developer from Uttar Pradesh’s Umariya village in Bisalpur district, was born into a hardworking farming family. In his village, he attended a government school and was fascinated by computers. Despite his family’s ups and downs, Jagdish was encouraged to continue his education. So he went to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, to pursue a B.Tech in Computer Science, becoming the family’s first child to attend college.
Jagdish’s passion towards computer programming language grew and drove him to find solutions to complex problems by learning programming languages all by himself. He mastered computer science concepts and tried writing his own program using logic instead of mugging up the codes. In his search for online coding programs to hone his abilities and accomplish his ambitions, Jagdish discovered Newton School.
He enrolled in the Full Stack Development program of Newton School, where he started building his own web applications and learnt some integral concepts that helped him crack competitive programming. Within five months of joining Newton School, Jagdish got placed at Lenskart as a Software Developer in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It was a celebration time for the family members and Umari locals who rejoiced at the young lad’s achievement.
Jagdish’s fascination with technology stems from the belief that digitization can be a great leveler and help rural India by providing access to facilities like online markets and knowledge-sharing platforms. Jagdish adds that in the future, he wants to develop user-friendly software that will simplify the use of technology for people belonging to rural parts of the country.
Newton School, an edtech and upskilling platform, is enabling students from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to get packages equal to IITians. Founded by Nishant Chandra and Siddharth Maheshwari, its goal is to provide a platform to millions of Indian youth and working professionals to build fast-growing and sustainable tech careers.
