Prayagraj: “By order, the Assistant Registrar Firms, Societies, and Chits, Prayagraj, considering Bishop Rt. Rev. Morris Edgar Dan of the Diocese of Lucknow Church of North India as the Chairman of Allahabad High School Society, registered the management committee list presented by him under Section 4(1) of Society Registration. Bishop Dan was appointed as the society’s legal chairman upon its registration. It is worth noting that the Allahabad High School Society operates the city’s prominent Boys High School, Girls High School, and Holy Trinity School. Previously, when Bishop Dan gained possession of the role of Bishop in 2009, the then Principal and Secretary C.V. Innes, with the connivance of former Bishop A.R. Stephen, altered the regulations and made the institution his own fiefdom,” informed Sunil Kumar Verma during a candid discussion with scribes after receiving the order on Friday.
“The action sparked a lengthy court struggle, and Bishop Dan ultimately prevailed in the Apex Court. Bishop Dan’s list was later registered in accordance with Supreme Court rules, and he was appointed legal chairman in 2011-12. Bishop Dan then named David Luke as Principal of the Boys’ High School in lieu of CV Innes and Dr. Vinita Eusebius in Girls’ High School, both of whom are still occupying their respective chairs and position. After Bishop Dan’s removal in 2013, the Assistant Registrar declared John Augustine of the Church of India as Chairman. The Honorable High Court issued the order of status quo, and the controversy has persisted since 2015,” he stated.
“After Bishop Dan is reinstated as Bishop in 2023, on the basis of the last registered list from 2012, Assistant Registrar again in 2024, with Bishop Dan as Chairman, created a list of Management Committee for the smooth operation of the Society and the carrying out of legal activity. RK Chattree was elected as the society’s secretary. The Diocese of Lucknow was filled with pleasure as soon as a copy of the order arrived. Everyone congratulated Bishop Dan. Among those who congratulated were Principal of Girls High School, Dr. Vinita Eusebius, Secretary, RK Chattree, Sanjit Lal, Principal, Dr. (Miss) Lydia Anthony of Mary Lucas School, Principal, Vishal Nobel Singh, Principal, Sanjay Mal, Principal, Manish Zaidi, Secretary, Diocese of Lucknow, Arun Paul, Treasurer, Amar Moses, etc. graced the occasion with their august presence,” remarked Sunil Kumar Verma prior to signing off.
