People go to hell, and you do your task…
It is difficult to express in words the joy of sitting in the balcony of the house and sipping tea in the evening, at dusk. I have a special fondness for trees, plants and open environment, so I often spend my evening time in the balcony of my house. One evening I was sitting in the balcony enjoying tea, when my eyes fell on the skylight in the corner of the balcony. There I saw two sparrows. Perhaps it was a male-female pair, who was repeatedly moving from one corner of the balcony to the other. After watching them for a long time, I understood that the pair was looking for a place to build their nest.
One evening again I was sitting in the balcony, then my attention went to the right corner of the balcony, from where a sparrow would fly, perhaps it would go to search for something and after some time would come back with a straw in its beak. The sparrow would bring that straw to the right corner of the balcony and take off again. The pair had started building their nest. I kept watching this process for a long time. People say watching the same thing over and over can be boring. But I saw this being refuted. Seeing that sparrow repeatedly bringing straw and building a nest was giving great peace to my mind.
Seeing their hard work, the thought came to my mind that how these voiceless birds choose the right place to make their home, where no one can destroy their home. Yet many times we destroy these homes of theirs, knowingly or unknowingly, sometimes in the name of cleanliness and sometimes for some other reason. Just imagine what would have happened to those birds and other creatures, who made their homes by carefully preserving the straws they had brought with great effort and love, yet the poor people have become homeless. Now just look at the spider’s web, it does not take even a moment for us to clean the corners of the house with a broom, but with this single moment of ours, both the hours of hard work of that spider and its home get destroyed.
It is not that only the houses of these voiceless birds are destroyed, many poor people have also been struggling with these conditions for years. These people have to roll big papads to get two meals a day, so the question of buying a house does not arise. These people just look for a place where their stay does not cause any problem to anyone. Therefore, they build their homes on the vacant land around the rivers and streams in the city. These poor people live happily with their families in a place where we frown when passing by. What should the poor guy do? Do they have any other option? However, these people are not unaware of the fact that whenever a bridge or a big building is built for the development of the city, it will be built only after destroying their homes.
I believe that every place is a home where people live lovingly with their families, whether it is a luxurious palace or a hut… But for people, home often means big bungalows and luxurious palaces. . For everyone, their home is their home – for a spider its web is its home, for birds their nest is their home, for a mouse its hole is its home. To build any big structure in the name of development of the country, the government first destroys the houses of these poor people. Although, every time during elections, the government makes big promises of providing houses to the poor, providing better education and providing basic facilities, but once it wins the elections, it starts following the sayings like ‘its work is done, people should go to hell’. Before building any new structure, the government should give land to these poor people to build their houses at another place, where the houses built by these poor people should not be destroyed by anyone, but they should also get the freedom to live with dignity and respect.
