Prayagraj: The three-day Inter-Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza “Alfresco 2024,” organized by Boys’ High School and College, began on a cheerful note on Tuesday at the St. Patrick’s auditorium of the institution. Praveen Patel, a member of Parliament, was the event’s chief guest. The Guests of Honour were Prof. Yogeshwar Tiwari of the University of Allahabad and Prof. (Dr.) Arif A. Broadway of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology, and Sciences.

The Principal, D. A. Luke, greeted the Chief Guest warmly upon his arrival. The inaugural event began with a magnificent March Past by the participating schools, followed by the singing of the School Song and an oath by School Captain Samarth Khare.  

In his inauguration address, Praveen Kumar Patel underlined the importance of strong educational institutions in developing a well-rounded personality. He went on to say that getting into a good school remains one of the most difficult difficulties for pupils from remote regions. He also emphasized the importance of removing the next generation from the disease of social media addiction and bringing them to the stage in an outdoor setting to learn leadership and sportsmanship.

Finally, he stated that as a public servant in this constituency, he was extremely proud to have an institution like BHS and its graduates represent us on the national stage in the most sought position.

The Bishop’s Co-Ed School (Bishop’s) in Pune, St. John’s Co-Ed School, D. P. Public School (DPPS), Khelgaon Public School (KPS), Tagore Public School (TPS), Srinivasa Ramanujan Public School, Bal Bharti School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Bishop Johnson School and College, and Boys’ High School (BHS) and College served as hosts. More than 500 eager boys and girls from educational institutions took part in the huge festival.

The first event was a debate, hosted by Rowan Luke. The teams debated the motion ‘The large fat Indian wedding is a crass display of riches.’ The next round was a thrilling round of quizzing, with Boys’ High School and College taking first place.

The audience was mesmerized by the wit, humour and spontaneity of HAM. The last on stage event was Rock On and the rendition was immaculate leaving the judges in a quandary.

The motto of Alfresco 2024, `Educate, Enthral, Excel and Evolve’ is aimed to facilitate personality development, confidence building and inter personal relationships among the students fraternity. The Principal, D. A. Luke extended a warm welcome to the Principals and students of participating schools.  

The results of the ON STAGE events are as follows: Colloquy: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s; Quiz: 1st – BHS, 2nd– KPS; HAM: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s; Rock On: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s; OFF-STAGE Events: Charcoal on Canvas: 1st– DPPS &KPS (joint), 2nd– Bishop’s;Shutter Bug: 1st – Bishop’s, 2nd– BHS; BGMI: 1st – BHS, 2nd– DPPS.
