Prayagraj: PadmaShri awardee world renowned scientist Dr. Ajai Kumar Sonkar says that the Kumbh Mela is a place where a huge human group, full of devotion and deep spiritual faith, gathers at one place and performs many religious rituals at fixed times. My scientific understanding tells that this huge ritual of Kumbh has a strong and positive effect on physical and mental biological functions due to mass participation.
Dr. Ajai says that there are beta waves in the forehead and middle region of our head whose normal frequency is 13 to 30 Hz. In today’s stressful and diseased lifestyle, the level of beta waves in people’s brain often increases to a harmful level of 38 Hz, which causes anxiety, nervousness, and depression and panic attacks.
Alpha waves are present in the sounds of innumerable blowing of conches (Sankh) and ringing of bells everywhere in Kumbh place. Alpha waves are a type of brain wave characterized by a frequency of 8-12 Hz which reduces the level of beta waves from the brain and relieves stress, depression, nervousness and fear. It also strengthens the respiratory muscles and increases the flow of oxygen in the body. The ability of self-healing increases in patients which helps in quick recovery.
Scientist says that the stressful lifestyle and challenges of life change the DNA codes of the human body and cause disorders in it, which is called methylation. This gives rise to many physical diseases and mental depression. On the occasion of Kumbh, due to collective activities, innumerable brains work together and in this process the mental capacity of the participants increases manifold. This huge collective environment restores the natural form of DNA codes and transmits positive energy in the mind. The mind controls the defense and healing system of our body, so the body’s resistance to diseases and illnesses increases.
On the other hand, the devotees have a placebo effect due to their unwavering faith in their prayers and worship, which makes them hopeful and energetic.
