Prayagraj: On the second day of the five-day Nautanki Festival organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, a grand staging of the play “Krishna Bhakt Danveer Raja Mordhwaj” based on the folk genre Nautanki style directed by Dr. Khemchandra Yaduvanshi took place at the Cultural Center Auditorium on Tuesday. In the play, through the devotion, sacrifice and truthfulness of Raja Mordhwaj, the message was given that the way to overcome the troubles in life is to sacrifice ego and have faith in God.
Centre Director Sudesh Sharma welcomed the chief guest Ramnaresh Tiwari, Member Hindi (Advisory Committee, Prayagraj) by presenting him a bouquet of flowers. The play begins with the incident of Arjuna fighting with Yuvraj Tamradhwaj while protecting the horse of Ashwamedha Yagna by the Pandavas after the Mahabharata war. Arjuna is defeated in the war and taken prisoner, but King Mordhwaj helps him and releases him with respect.
Arjuna is saddened by this incident and shares his pain with Shri Krishna. Then Shri Krishna tells him that Mordhwaj is full of his supreme devotion. To break Arjuna’s ego, Lord Krishna takes him to Mordhwaj’s court in the guise of a saint. Mordhwaj agrees to sacrifice his son Tamradhwaj without any fear or greed. When everything is over, King Mordhwaj prays to God to protect the true religion. Seeing his devotion, Lord Krishna appears in his real form and brings Tamradhwaj back to life.
In the end Arjun understands that humility is the greatest strength in devotion. This touching presentation of the play touched the audience deeply. The excellent acting of the actors made the story come alive. The audience kept applauding the play with thunderous applause for a long time. The program was conducted by Shweta Shrivastava. On this occasion, all the officers, employees of the center and a large number of spectators participated and enjoyed the play.
