Doubts persist over BLO: SIR forms not reaching thousands of people
Prayagraj: While the District Magistrate is serious about the SIR in the district, the BLOs and supervisors assigned to this task remain negligent. The situation is the same for most, from city to village. While BLOs and supervisors have been deployed at the ward level, people are rarely able to see them, despite the fact that they are required to distribute and collect a certain number of forms each day. According to reports, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma is extremely serious about the SIR, holding meetings with the staff involved to ensure that the SIR is completed honestly and that every citizen listed for SIR completes and uploads the form promptly. However, contrary to the District Magistrate and the government’s intentions, many BLOs are showing no interest in the work, forcing people to wander from door to door. BLOs don’t even answer voters’ calls, forcing people to complain to higher authorities. The rule is that BLOs visit each household three times. But people say they haven’t seen a BLO yet, nor do they pick up the phone when contacted, nor do they provide a proper response. The situation is worst in the City West Assembly constituency, where the BLOs and supervisors deployed there don’t seem to be interested in their work. It’s reported that people complained to an officer in City West today, and the officer has promised action.
