Prayagraj: Bharatiya Janata Party NGO Cell State Co-ordinator Rajnikanth met Urban Development and Energy Minister Shri A.K. Sharma and submitted a memorandum. On this occasion, Rajinikanth said that the scheme of 25 percent discount on the principal amount of outstanding electricity bills and complete waiver of interest, implemented by the state government with the aim of providing relief to the general public, is a historic scheme implemented by a popular government of any state for the first time in independent India.
He said that unfortunately, instead of taking this public welfare scheme to every household or informing consumers with outstanding electricity bills about the benefits they can receive from this scheme, some officials and employees of the Electricity Department are adopting a “earn and eat” policy. The public is not being informed about the scheme, and their electricity is being disconnected without any sensitivity. Rajinikanth alleged that some conspiratorial officials and employees are committing such acts with the intention of defaming the government. Their actions reflect complete insensitivity. He also said that even if a consumer reports that a family member is hospitalized or in critical condition, they are not given any respite. Thus, human sensibilities are being completely ignored.
