Prayagraj. A seminar and cultural programs were organized on Wednesday under the “Chalo Man Ganga-Yamuna Teer” campaign organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The keynote speaker at the seminar, Dr. Chittaranjan Kumar (Assistant Professor, University of Ila.) said that Ganga is not just a river, but the greatest woman of India and the soul of the nation. He said that a mother takes on every form for her children. Some used Ganga water for ablution before namaz, while others used it for the last rites. Ganga was useful to everyone, but today’s selfish children have left it alone and helpless.

Addressing the program, Saraswati magazine editor Anupam Parihar said that the holy city of Prayag has been the source of Indian cultural consciousness. It is not only a center of faith, but also a common platform for spiritual, social, and cultural thought developed in the literature of Indian languages. The Vedas and Puranas describe Prayag as a land that bestows salvation, while in Hindi literature it has been a center of devotion and public welfare.

After this, in the cultural evening organized, the artists mesmerized the audience by giving one better performance than the other. Suryakant presented many folk songs including “Magh Makar gaye aai chala ho Triveni nahai” Lagal Ganga ji ka mela chhoda gharwa ka jhamela, le le aaiha balam bajaria se chunari”. Nirgun singer Surya Prakash Patel received a lot of applause by presenting songs related to the glory of Ganga and Prayagraj like Pinjrava ke chhodi jaaihai sugana satguru se, Ganga ke nirm ba paani nahi chale dono parani and Prayagraj nagri abhoomi ke abhoomi hai. Vijay Chandra gave a new height to the program by playing synthesizer.

12 participants participated in the dance competition organized as part of the program and displayed their talent. Under Jababi Birha, Brijbhan Yadav, Baram Deen Yadav, Munshi Lal Sonkar, Kamal Chandra Yadav, Abhay Raj Yadav and Akanksha Bharti presented the folk song Birha. Kathak instructors Urmila Sharma and Kriti Srivastava were present as judges in the singing competition. The dance participants were honored with certificates by program advisor Kalpana Sahay.
