Prayagraj: On the humanitarian initiative of the City Congress Committee, Prayagraj and the City Congress Seva Dal, Indore, the ashes of all 36 people who died last month after consuming contaminated water in Bhagirathpura were immersed by their family members in the holy  Sangam of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati amidst complete Vedic chanting in the afternoon.  A 60-member pilgrimage group arrived here by the Indore Express train at 6 a.m. After halting for some time at a local guest house, all of them proceeded to the Sangam, where Brahmin Tirth Purohits performed the rituals. After prayers and worship, the ashes were immersed in the Sangam by the family members of the deceased.

Congress Coordinator Kishore Varshney informed that under the leadership of Congress Seva Dal Indore President Mukesh Yadav, Jitendra Thakur, and Munna Thakur, two members from each deceased family were provided free railway travel, food and other necessary arrangements. The delegation arriving here was received by City Congress Committee President Fuzail Hashmi along with party office bearers. At the Sangam, according to the traditions of Sanatan Dharma, the rituals of ashes immersion, pind daan, tarpan and other charitable rites were performed by learned priests under the leadership of Pandit Anoop Tripathi. On this occasion, 51 Brahmins were also served meals as part of the sacred ritual.

It was stated that this journey that began from Indore will become a beautiful example of faith, service and human compassion. 

 UP Congress Committee Coordinators duo Harikesh Tripathi and Sudhakar Tiwari, family members of the deceased including Khoob Chand Badhaiya, Santosh Vigoliya, Mukesh Verma, Manish Pawar, Raja Vairasi, Digambar Wade, Om Prakash Sahu, Satyanarayan Kadam, Bhanu Maloriya, Tulsiram, Prahlad Mahawar, Munna Thakur, Manish Pawar, Bihar Kori, Raja Kashyap and others were present.
