Prayagraj: Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir celebrated ‘Earth Day’ on Wednesday, with great excitement. The school organized a special program ‘Protect The Earth’ by Class 5 to teach students why it is important to save our environment and take care of nature. The program started with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Alpona Dey and the School Coordinators.

Students performed a touching dance titled “Na Kato Mujhe Dukhta Hai,” showing the pain of trees when they are cut down. Following the dance, a silent ‘Mime performance’ effectively showcased the effects of deforestation, problems of pollution and suicide of farmers. A beautiful Hindi poem, “Dharti Maa ka Sandesh,” shared a message of love and protection from Mother Earth. Another energetic dance, “Ek Diya Baati Hazaron Roshni,” showed how one small effort can bring a big change to the world. Following the dance was a skit “Dharti Maa ka Darbar.” In this skit, Mother Earth and the five elements spoke about the harm humans are doing and how the Nature Rescue Team took an oath to protect the environment.

At the end of the performances, Principal blessed the students. She praised their hard work and reminded everyone that we must keep our surroundings clean. She encouraged the children to be ‘Earth Heroes’ by keeping their surroundings clean.

The event ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Primary Incharge Boishakhi Ghosh where she appreciated the students’ hard work and thanked everyone for making the program a big success. Everyone left the hall with a promise to protect our beautiful planet.
