Prayagraj: On Earth Day, a tree plantation program was organized in the Physical Education Department, SHUATS. At the beginning of the program, the chief guest was Professor Dr.DK Bose, Associate Dean, Agricultural Institute of Naini and Program Coordinator of NSS, while expressing his views on the importance of safe life on the earth.
How to develop so that all living beings can enjoy their life. He said that Punjab once stood first in the country in agricultural production, but with time, poor human conduct and excessive exploitation of resources have spoiled life there. Random spraying of pesticides to increase production in the land has completely polluted the water beneath the soil. In this context, he said that many cancer patients have been born in Bathinda city of Punjab. He appealed to all the students to plant at least one tree once a year. All the students accepted the resolution given by him.
After this, Head of the Department and Secretary of the Athletic Committee, Mr. Ashish Massey, Assistant Professor, presented his views on Earth Day. He explained the ways to protect the earth by following a disciplined lifestyle. Thereafter, 3 trees were also planted in the tree plantation programme. The Chief Guest said that to protect the earth, we should plant trees, not cut trees, conserve water and discover new energy sources and contribute to social security. Dr. Achint Terence, another assistant professor of the department, also planted a tree in the tree plantation programme.
On this occasion, Assistant Professor of the department Dr. Sunita B. John, Mr. Ajay Kumar, Mr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Mr. Tanveer Ahmed, Praveen Rai, Bipin Singh, Sanjay Das, Naresh Kanojia, Grounds Man and all the students participated enthusiastically.
On this occasion, the program was conducted by Rakesh Sahu, Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education and He threw the light at the Theme of Earth day 2026 Which is Our Power, Our Planet, meaning is We All Can do Good Work with Full Strength for Safety of the planet.
