ANTF team achieves major success, searches for other gang members

Prayagraj: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has achieved a major success in its campaign against drug trafficking in the city. The team arrested two drug smugglers with 550 grams of heroin near the Mansoorabad bypass. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth approximately ₹1.10 crore (approximately $1.1 billion).

The arrested accused have been identified as Anish Kumar alias Ashish Sonkar and Saurabh Sonkar, residents of Manda. During interrogation, they confessed to supplying drugs to Pratapgarh and surrounding districts. Based on repeated complaints received by the ANTF, a team led by Operational Unit Incharge Satyendra Pradhan took action. A cordon and search of the car led to the arrest of the two accused. A search revealed the heroin, along with two mobile phones, a car, and ₹700 in cash. Interrogation revealed that the heroin was provided by an accomplice from a village in Prayagraj. The instructions were to deliver the consignment to a toll plaza in the Nawabganj area, where an unidentified person would receive the goods. On Wednesday, both accused were produced in the district court, from where they were sent to jail. According to the ANTF, the search for the main mastermind and other accused is ongoing, and more arrests are likely soon.
