Prayagraj: Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS) has awarded a Ph.D. to Radha Kumari, Department of Teacher Education, Allahabad School of Education, following the successful defence of her thesis titled “Self-Efficacy and Family Environment of Teacher Educators in Relation to Their Burnout.”

The Chairperson of the viva voce was Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Bala while Prof. Arvind Pandey was External examiner. Radha Kumari completed his research under the guidance of Dr. Jyotsana Jaiswal. The performance of the scholar was adjudged satisfactory by the evaluation board. SAC members Dr. P. P. Singh, Niharika Denis, and Dr.P.P. Dsouza were present during viva voce of the student. The proceedings were held under the supervision of Dr. S.S. Masih, Head & Dean ASE.

The study examines burnout among teacher educators in relation to gender and locale, and reports significant variations. Higher levels of burnout were observed among rural female and urban male educators, with urban educators, overall, experiencing greater work-related stress. The findings further indicate that self-efficacy tends to be higher among male and urban educators, generally, while family environment shows limited overall variation. The research highlights the need for strengthened institutional support, including measures addressing mental well-being, gender disparities, and professional development in teacher education.
