Fine of Rs 5,17,620 collected from 1289 passengers

Prayagraj: Under the Prayagraj Division, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager, Prayagraj Division, Mr. Rajneesh Agrawal, and under the leadership of Deputy Chief Traffic Manager, North Central Railway, Kanpur, Akanshu Govil, a special ticket checking campaign was conducted at Kanpur Central Station from 09.05.2026 to 13.05.2026. The objective of the campaign was to establish effective control over ticketless and irregular travel and to make passengers aware of the rules.

A special ticket checking campaign was conducted at Kanpur Central from May 9, 2026, to May 14, 2026. Under this campaign, ticket checking staff took action against ticketless travelers, irregular travelers, smokers, and those carrying unbooked luggage, as per the rules.

During this special drive, a total of 1,289 passengers were charged for various irregularities, and a total fine of Rs. 5,17,620 was collected. This included Rs. 2,22,680 from 310 ticketless passengers, Rs. 2,45,740 from 489 irregular passengers, and Rs. 49,200 from 490 passengers found littering or smoking. This drive not only contributed to revenue growth but also marked an important step towards maintaining discipline and cleanliness on railway premises. The Railway Administration appeals to all its esteemed passengers to follow the rules of travel, travel only with valid tickets, and maintain cleanliness on railway premises and in trains. Passengers are requested to dispose of garbage only in designated bins and to immediately report any inconvenience or irregularity to railway officials. Prayagraj Division is always committed to the convenience, safety and pleasant journey of the passengers and such campaigns will be continued in the future also.
