Prayagraj: A grand and dignified Hindi Diwas celebration was organized by the Hindi Cell of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad, as part of the ‘Hindi Month’ observance and in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The event was conducted by the institute’s Assistant Registrar, Satyajit Kumar. On this occasion, the message sent by the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, on the occasion was also read out.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Dhananjay Chopra from the University of Allahabad, was welcomed and honored by the institute’s Acting Director, Prof. M. M. Gore, who presented him with an Angavastram (traditional stole) and a memento. Speaking on the occasion, Acting Director Prof. M. M. Gore remarked that Hindi is not merely a language of communication but is deeply connected to our culture, traditions, and national identity. He emphasized that Hindi Diwas should not be limited to a single day but celebrated as a ‘Hindi Utsav’ (Hindi Festival) to ensure the continuous growth of respect for the language and the spirit of using it.
In his address, Chief Guest Dr. Dhananjay Chopra elaborated on the significance and widespread acceptance of the Hindi language. He noted that Hindi is no longer confined to India but is making a significant impact on the global stage. The use of Hindi by Prime Minister on international platforms has elevated the language’s prestige and acceptance to new heights. The expansion of digital media and social networking platforms has further broadened the reach of Hindi. He concluded by stating that to promote Hindi, it is essential to make its use natural and effortless in official and technical tasks, alongside our daily activities. He called upon the youth and students to embrace Hindi with pride and to cultivate a sense of respect for Indian languages.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ashish Kumar Singh, Vice-Chairman of the Official Language Implementation Committee, highlighted the utility of the Hindi language and the need for its increased use in official work. He emphasized that the participation of everyone is essential for the effective implementation of Hindi.
Dr. Ambak Kumar Rai, the Institute’s Registrar, extended Hindi Diwas greetings to all and highlighted the significance of the language.
The event concluded with a pledge to maximize the use of Hindi and ensure the effective implementation of the official language. A large number of the Institute’s faculty, officers, and staff members attended the program. The event commenced with rendition of the song ‘Vande Mataram,’ evoking a spirit of patriotism. A large number of faculty members, officers, and staff were present.
