Prayagraj: Traders involved in the city’s transport business have demanded smooth vehicle movement and organized parking arrangements in Transport Nagar. Anish Jaiswal, general secretary of the Prayagraj Goods Transport Association, submitted a letter to the District Magistrate at a meeting of the District Traders Association, demanding necessary action in this regard. Anish Jaiswal demanded that vehicles coming from Kanpur to Transport Nagar should be allowed unhindered access to TP Nagar. He said that unnecessary obstruction to the movement of heavy vehicles affects the transport business, and traders and drivers also face difficulties.

Meanwhile, Dhananjay Singh, President of the City Western Traders Federation (Registered), expressed the need to improve the existing parking system in Transport Nagar. He said that due to the lack of adequate and organized parking facilities for trucks, vehicles have to be parked on the roadside, which impacts traffic.

Dhananjay Singh alleged that some scrap dealers have encroached upon Transport Nagar by parking old and damaged vehicles for a long time. He demanded that the administration identify such encroachments and immediately remove them, as well as take action to remove vehicles that have been damaged and junked for a long time.

He said that by removing unnecessary encroachments and junk vehicles from Transport Nagar, the vacant space could be used for truck parking. This would not only alleviate parking problems to a large extent but also reduce road congestion and traffic problems.

The traders have demanded the administration and the concerned departments to take cognizance of the matter and take necessary action and ensure systematic parking and smooth traffic system in Transport Nagar.
