Prayagraj: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and the country’s second Prime Minister, the late Lal Bahadur Shastri, teachers from about 100 colleges in Vidhansabha City West, who contributed to nation-building, meritorious students, and administrators who guided teachers and students in inculcating values ​​and generational development, were honored at a grand Guru-Shishya Samman Parv. Speakers at the event called for inculcating values ​​in life along with education, considering the Guru-Shishya tradition the cornerstone of Indian culture.

Welcoming the guests, teachers, students, and dignitaries present, BJP leader Dr. Sushil Sinha, the host of the event, stated that the purpose of the “Guru-Shishya Samman Parv” is not merely to honor, but to strengthen the sense of respect for teachers and responsibility towards students in society. He stated that a teacher is a lamp that burns itself to spread light in the lives of students, and it is society’s responsibility to honor such teachers. Speakers at the event emphasized that parents give birth to a child, but a teacher provides direction and purpose to their personality. True respect for a teacher lies not in merely touching their feet, but in following their path and inculcating their values ​​in one’s own conduct. Congratulating the honored teachers and meritorious students, it was stated that their honor symbolizes society’s gratitude for knowledge, education, and values. During the ceremony, a pledge was also taken to imbibe the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and to contribute to nation-building through education and values.

The chief guest of the program, Prof. Girish Chand Tripathi, former Vice Chancellor of BHU, Varanasi, said that a guru is not just a person who imparts knowledge, but also a guide who gives direction and purpose to a disciple’s life. He said that Mahatma Gandhi preached the message of truth, non-violence, and service, while Lal Bahadur Shastri embodied simplicity, honesty, and service to the nation. Today, there is a need for students to play their role in nation-building by imbibing the ideals of these great men and the values ​​instilled in them by their teachers. Respecting a guru is, in fact, respect for knowledge, values, and the tradition of nation-building. Respecting a guru is the true prestige of knowledge and values. Dr. S.P. Singh, former Principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj, who presided over the program, said that the true strength of any nation lies in its young generation and its education system. He urged students to incorporate discipline, ethics, and human values ​​into their lives, along with bookish knowledge. If the bond of trust, respect, and values ​​between guru and disciple is strengthened, both society and nation will be strengthened. Special guest, former Principal and Vidya Bharati leader Vijay Upadhyay said that in Indian culture, the Guru has always been given the highest respect. A Guru shapes generations, and their values ​​determine the direction of society. He said that honoring meritorious students inspires them to move forward, while honoring teachers reminds society of its responsibility towards education and values.

In the end, Dinesh Tiwari said that respect for the Guru is our culture, respect for knowledge is our identity and serving the nation should be our resolve.
