Prayagraj: The City Congress Committee members strongly condemned the arrest of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and other Congress and INDIA bloc MPs who were sitting in protest at Akashvani Bhawan in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

An emergency meeting of City Congress Committee was held in Civil Lines under the chairmanship of City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi. The Congress leaders demanded the immediate release of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and other detained leaders and expressed deep anguish over what they described as the “murder of democracy” by the Modi government, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar.

The leaders said that there is widespread anger across the country over Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against vote theft. They asserted that no force can stop Rahul Gandhi from exposing the conspiracy of vote theft and leading the struggle to protect the Constitution and democracy. They said that those who have betrayed the people’s mandate will ultimately be exposed.

Kishore Varshney, Harikesh Tripathi, Pervez Siddiqui, Vijay Mishra, Afroz Ahmad, Manas Shukla, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Anup Tripathi, Sushmita Yadav, Ahmadullah, Pratima Tripathi, Tabrez Ahmad, Kammu Sonkar, Nafis Qureshi, Tribhuvan Sonkar, Raj Kumar Shukla, Pradeep Dwivedi, among others, condemned the arrests and demanded the immediate release of the detained leaders.
