Prayagraj: Martyrdom Day was organized at Sikandra Congress office under the leadership of Congress District President Ashfaq Ahmed remembering the sacrifice of immortal martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. Congress leaders paid their respects to the great revolutionaries by offering flowers on their portraits and a two-minute silence was observed in the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom. On this occasion, Ahmed said that March 23 is a great example of bravery and sacrifice in the history of India’s freedom struggle. On this day in the year 1931, three brave sons of Mother India, Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivram Rajguru, laughingly kissed the noose for the sake of the country. His sacrifice not only awakened the sleeping country but also lit the torch of patriotism in the hearts of the youth, which is still present in the mind of every Indian. The selfless sacrifice of these revolutionaries reminds us at what a huge cost we have got this freedom. Today is an opportunity to salute and show our respect to all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our better tomorrow. He said that the Congress party will not let the sacrifices of the martyrs go in vain and we will all continue to work together for the unity and integrity of the country.
