Prayagraj: On Friday morning, the state’s Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Medical Education), Mr. Amit Ghosh, held a review meeting with senior officials and department heads in the Principal’s office at Motilal Nehru Medical College. During the meeting, he conducted a detailed review of medical services, infrastructure, and human resources.
Principal Prof. Dr. V.K. Pandey, Vice Principal Dr. Mohit Jain, Chief Superintendent Dr. Neelam Singh, Head of Surgery Department Dr. Vaibhav Srivastava, Trauma Incharge Dr. Rajkumar Chaudhary, Additional Director Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Joint Director Dr. Ashu Pandey, Chief Medical Officer Dr. A.K. Tiwari, HODs of various departments and senior faculty members were present in the meeting.
Principal Dr. V.K. Pandey gave a detailed presentation on the facilities available at the Medical College and associated hospitals—Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital, Manohar Das Eye Hospital and Children’s Hospital—future plans and gap analysis of human resources.
During the meeting, the ACS praised the medical system for operating an OPD of approximately 3,000 despite the scorching heat. He also directed special attention to the maintenance and timely repair of the machines used in the hospital. He suggested that a competent agency be designated to ensure the proper operation of the machines and a regular inspection and maintenance system be developed, thereby reducing the wasted time in the event of a breakdown.
The ACS also inspected the Cath Lab and reviewed the various procedures being performed by the Cardiology Department. Emphasizing the need to strengthen the current state of the hospital, hostel facilities, and critical care services, he directed that a concrete roadmap be developed to provide better and smoother treatment to patients. He also directed that paramedical and nursing staff be available as needed and agreed to a plan to expand Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital to 2,000 beds in a phased manner. The ACS directed the Principal to submit a detailed gap analysis report soon so that necessary approvals and action could be taken. He also urged the Heads of Departments to further strengthen academic activities at the medical college.
