Prayagraj: “No Bag Days” in schools are thoughtfully designed to reduce the physical and mental stress on students while promoting experiential, skill-based, and creative learning beyond textbooks. Such activities encourage students to learn through observation, participation, innovation, and practical application of knowledge. Integrating cooking activities into Bagless Days provide students with meaningful hands-on learning experiences that connect academics with everyday life. Through fireless cooking, students explored concepts related to Mathematics through measurements, Science through nutrition and healthy eating habits, and Aesthetics through food presentation and plating skills.
In accordance with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates a ten-day “Bagless Period” to promote joyful and experiential learning, the first Bagless Day of the academic session 2026–2027 was organised on 15 May 2026. The chosen activity for the day was “Fireless Cooking.”
The programme was conducted under the inspiring guidance of our dynamic Principal, Rev. Dr. V. Eusebius, whose constant encouragement and visionary leadership continue to motivate both students and teachers alike. Her unwavering commitment towards holistic education and innovative learning practices has enabled the institution to achieve remarkable standards of excellence.
The students assembled in the auditorium in the morning for a live demonstration session on fireless cooking conducted by Mrs. T. K. Jaiswal, Mrs. S. Mehrotra, Mrs. A. Sukh, and Mrs. F. Asif. An engaging PPT presentation further enhanced the session by introducing students to a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, shakes, and other nutritious dishes that could be prepared easily without the use of fire, ovens, or stoves.
In the classrooms, demonstrations on making chefs’ caps and aprons were conducted by Mrs. M. Bhatnagar, Mrs. S. Naaz, and Mrs. K. Tiwari. The students participated enthusiastically and showcased remarkable creativity by preparing an impressive range of colourful and innovative dishes. Their culinary creations were attractively displayed and received appreciation from everyone present. The successful execution of the activity was made possible through the dedicated efforts and meticulous planning of the coordinators, Mrs. B. K. Chaddha and Mrs. N. Sinha, who ensured the smooth conduct of every aspect of the programme. The activity proved to be an enriching and enjoyable learning experience for the students, making the first Bagless Day of the session a grand success.
