Prayagraj: Under the joint aegis of Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy Lucknow and Indian Folk and Modern Art Academy Prayagraj, the 20-day folk theatre workshop Nautanki was inaugurated at Shri Raghuraj Singh Memorial College Fakirabad Sarai Akil Kaushambi on 1 June 2026 at 8 am with Saraswati Puja. On this occasion, college manager Amit Vikram Singh, Bhagwat Resort owner Advocate Rameshwar Singh, Advocate Rahul Gautam, Gunanagar Singh, Advocate Rajiv Pratap Singh, Advocate Yuvraj Singh etc. were present as guests.
On the first day of the workshop, the workshop instructor Ramesh Kashyap (Ramesh Kumar) told the participants about the history of folk theatre Nautanki. Explaining its nuances, he discussed the characteristics of different folk theatre styles from other theatres and explained the importance of Nautanki in the field of theatre. This workshop will run from June 1, 2026, to June 20, 2026. Guest instructors will also periodically lecture during the workshop, providing participants with insights into various aspects of theatre. The principal instructor for this workshop is folk artist, theatre personality, and film actor Ramesh Kashyap (Ramesh Kumar).
