Prayagraj: Players from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, performed brilliantly and presented a strong claim for selection in the Indian team at the National Deaf Players Selection Trials held at the BMS College of Engineering Ground, Basavanagudi, Bangalore, on July 4–5, 2026. Deaf Ashutosh Shukla achieved a remarkable feat by securing first place in the senior men’s chess category.

Prayagraj Deaf Welfare Trust was established in the year 2005. The organization continuously works to promote the game of chess among deaf players and to spread awareness about the deaf community. Based on the National Selection Trials, the Indian team has been selected for the Asia Pacific Deaf Multi-Sports Championship to be held in Penang, Malaysia from October 3-10, 2026. We are proud that national athlete Mr. Ashutosh Shukla, a member of the Prayagraj Deaf Welfare Trust, will represent India in this prestigious competition. We have full faith that the Indian team will perform excellently and bring glory to the country at the international level and will return with medals and titles from the Asian competition.

On this proud achievement, President of Prayagraj Foundation, Shashank Shekhar Pandey has sent hearty congratulations and best wishes to General Secretary of Prayagraj Deaf Welfare Trust, Mr. Ram Raghubir Mishra, Interpreter Vaishnavi Singh, President of Uttar Pradesh Deaf Arts and Cultural Society, Madan Mohan Srivastava, Vice President Mrs. Lata Kumari, Vice President Neeraj Singh and all the officials and players.
