Prayagraj: U.P. Congress Committee President and former Minister Ajay Rai said that the students protesting at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak had never demanded a fast-track court, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was attempting to cover up the entire issue. Speaking to journalists on Friday afternoon while visiting the Court of ADJ S.M. Tripathi in connection with a legal matter, Rai condemned the police action against the protesting students and paid tribute to all those students who lost their lives due to the NEET paper leak. He reiterated the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and alleged that the Modi government and the RSS had taken control of the education system and pushed it towards ruin.

Rai further said that Prime Minister Modi, who claims to stand for the interests of the country’s youth, has failed on every issue concerning them. Calling the Prime Minister’s promises “completely false,” he questioned what had become of the assurances made after seeking 50 days from the people. He alleged that the paper leak was the handiwork of an organised syndicate operating under the full protection of the government.

Expressing strong support for the students’ demands, Rai said they were not alone, as the Congress and the entire Opposition stood firmly with them. He also described the government as insensitive and accused it of protecting those involved in corruption. After his interaction with the media, he left directly for Lucknow.
