Post historic first Student Council elections
Prayagraj: Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School celebrated a historic milestone in student leadership with the grand Student Council Investiture Ceremony (2026-27). The ceremony followed the successful completion of the school’s first Student Council elections. The occasion served as a powerful symbol of the school’s unwavering commitment to democratic values, responsible leadership, and active student participation.
The presence of Major General Dharam Raj Rai, SM, VSM, Commandant, Selection Centre East, Prayagraj was notable as the Chief Guest of the function, while Dr. Pawan Kumar Pachauri, Head of Department, Department of Physical Education and Yoga, Kulbhaskar Ashram PG College, Prayagraj graced the function as the Guest of Honour. On this occasion, Professor Asim Mukherjee, Vice President of Jagat Taran Educated Society, Dr. Probal Niyogi, Mrs. Nirupa Rai, Mr. Amit Kumar Niyogi (Manager, JTGJS), Principal of the school Mrs. Dolly Banerjee and respected members of the Management Committee of Jagat Taran Education Society (JTES) also graced the function with their dignified presence.
The ceremony marked the successful culmination of a historic democratic initiative conceived by the school’s Principal, Mrs. Dolly Banerjee. She introduced a transparent and fair electoral process, allowing students to choose their own representatives. By reposing faith in student decision-making, this initiative reinforced democratic values such as fairness, accountability, and participatory leadership, reaffirming the school’s commitment to fostering responsible and informed citizens.
A special highlight of the ceremony was the innovative and creative stage decoration, which prominently displayed the actual election symbols used by the candidates during the election campaign. This unique presentation vividly captured the entire democratic journey from election campaign to voting and finally, the investiture ceremony.
The newly elected Student Council members were formally presented with badges and sashes, and assigned their positions and responsibilities. Abhas Rai and Drishna Dubey assumed the duties of Head Boy and Head Girl, respectively. Yuvraj was appointed Junior Head Boy, Aarohi Giri Junior Head Girl, and Amritansh Mishra and Janhavi Tiwari Associate Head Boy and Associate Head Girl, respectively. Abhinav Tripathi was appointed Sports Captain, Krishika Yadav Sports Vice Captain, Asha Ojha Cultural Captain, Akshat Mishra Discipline Captain, Mysha Srivastava Martial Arts Captain, and Harsh Singh Martial Arts Vice Captain. Abhinav Tripathi also assumed the additional responsibility of Basketball Captain, while Atharva Singh was appointed Volleyball Captain and Vishwas Mishra Cricket Captain. All these student leaders pledged to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and determination, and to continue inspiring their peers to achieve excellence in sports and every aspect of life.
All four houses of the school also welcomed their newly elected student leaders. Bankim Chandra House was appointed as captain Mayank Tripathi and Sneha, Sparshi Singh as vice-captain, Vivekananda House was appointed as captain Divyansh Mishra and Shivangi Bhardwaj and Riddhi House as vice-captain, Tagore House was appointed as captain Ansh Pratap Singh and Shreya Jaiswal and Harshita Patel as vice-captain, Subhash House was appointed as captain Kriti Mishra and Shubhashish, Shambhavi Mishra as vice-captain.
In their inspiring addresses, the Chief Guest and Special Guest extended their heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected student leaders and lauded the school’s visionary and innovative initiative, saying, “This transparent, fair, and participatory election process strengthens students’ faith in democracy and develops responsible leadership qualities in them.” They also inspired the newly formed Student Council to discharge its responsibilities with integrity, humility, and a spirit of selfless service.
