Prayagraj: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Prayagraj has constituted a three-member medical board and ordered an investigation into the death of a woman after childbirth at Naz Hospital in Kareli. According to the order issued by the CMO office, the case will be investigated based on relevant medical records, treatment documents, and statements from both parties. Complainant Dina Nath Maurya, through advocates Syed Ahmed Faizan and Mohammed Riaz, has filed a complaint demanding an impartial investigation. According to the complainant, his wife, Pratima Maurya, was admitted to Naz Hospital in Kareli for delivery, where she died after treatment. The complaint alleges medical negligence during treatment at the hospital, and demands an investigation into the role of those responsible and action as required by law. The complaint alleges that despite the patient’s condition deteriorating after delivery, several serious questions arise regarding the treatment provided. For an impartial investigation, the complainant has requested that the medical records, BHT, medication and treatment details, and other relevant documents prepared during her treatment at the hospital be made available and examined. The complainant has also demanded an investigation into the role of Dr. Naz Fatima, along with the nursing staff and other relevant documents. He has also requested an investigation into the doctor’s educational and professional qualifications, the hospital’s license and registration, and documents related to hospital operations. The CMO constituted a three-member medical board. Taking the matter seriously, an office order regarding the investigation was issued from the office of the CMO, Prayagraj, on August 7, 2026. The order constituted a three-member medical board to investigate the matter. The board includes the Additional Chief Medical Officer, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, and a gynecologist from Tej Bahadur Sapru Hospital.

The CMO’s order directs the complainant to appear on the scheduled date with all evidence related to the deceased’s BHT and treatment and present their side of the story. The manager/director of Naaz Hospital has also been asked to appear before the board with the deceased’s BHT, the gynecologist who performed the delivery, supporting staff, and other relevant physicians.

According to the order, the complainant has been directed to appear with relevant records and evidence on August 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The CMO office order also states that the constituted board will investigate and take action in the matter on August 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Medical records and the role of staff are also under investigation.

The investigation committee will examine the patient’s treatment records, the role of the doctor who performed the delivery, the supporting staff, and other relevant medical personnel. Documents submitted by the hospital and evidence presented by the complainant will also be examined.

The complainants have alleged that they faced difficulties in providing all documents related to the treatment after the incident and that attempts were made to pressure them into a settlement. These allegations can only be independently confirmed after an investigation. The complaint also demands an investigation into the alleged promotional claims made on social media by the hospital management and Dr. Naz Fatima, as well as the hospital’s registration and medical documents. The investigation by the medical board constituted by the CMO is now considered crucial. The board’s report, after examining the statements of both parties, the medical records, and the available evidence, will determine whether medical negligence or any treatment irregularities are confirmed in the woman’s death. The allegations of medical negligence are currently allegations made by the complainant. Their veracity will only be clear after the inquiry committee’s report.
