Prayagraj: St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, hosted the grand closing ceremony of the three-day CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2026 on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The competition aimed to promote discipline, excellence, healthy competition, and sportsmanship among students. St. Joseph’s College hosted the event.
Sister Lissy C.J., Principal of St. Mary’s Convent Inter College, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, while Dr. Zarin Rizvi, Zonal Coordinator of CISCE, was the guest of honor. The program was smoothly conducted under the guidance of the school’s Principal, Reverend Father Walter de Silva, and School Coordinator, Jyoti Dubey. The ceremony was planned and managed by Mistress of Ceremonies Joanna Robinson.
The program began with a formal welcome, Bible reading, and prayer. The school choir performed a prayer song. This was followed by the formal introduction of the chief guest and guest of honor. The Principal welcomed the chief guest by presenting him with a sapling as a symbol of environmental protection and presented Dr. Zareen Rizvi with a bouquet of flowers. In his welcome address, he highlighted the importance of sports.
The main attraction of the event was the prize distribution ceremony, in which swimmers who performed exceptionally well in different age groups and events were honoured. Players from Prayagraj, Lucknow North, Lucknow South, Agra, Bareilly, Ghaziabad and other zones participated in the competition. Players from Prayagraj also performed remarkably in many events during the competition. Among these, Vaidehi Choudhary secured first place in 50m freestyle U-19 girls, Toshi Purwar secured first place in 50m freestyle U-17 girls, and Atharv Singh secured first place in 50m backstroke U-14 boys.
Finally, Daisy Daniels presented a vote of thanks, expressing her gratitude to the guests, teachers, school management, participants, and colleagues who made the event a success. The closing ceremony concluded with the collective singing of the national anthem. This championship proved to be an important platform for students to hone their athletic talents, while also strengthening discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship.
