Furthering the pledge of donating platelets every month

Aim of serving humanity and saving lives of needy patients

Prayagraj: Rotary Club Prayagraj Sangam is continuously taking forward the resolution taken to organise Single Donor Platelets (SDP) donation every month in the Rotary year 2026-27. In this sequence, the club organised an SDP and blood donation campaign in the month of August, in which the blood heroes of the club participated enthusiastically and gave an exemplary demonstration of their responsibility towards the society.

During this campaign, four blood donors from the club shared the message of service to humanity by donating blood and SDP. The blood donors who donated blood and platelets included Rotarian Devesh Jaiswal, Rotarian Aditya Jaiswal, Rotarian Yash, and other blood donors. All blood donors volunteered to contribute to the welfare of needy patients.

SDP, or Single Donor Platelets, is a unique and important blood donation process in which platelets are collected from a single donor. Platelets play a vital role in the treatment of patients suffering from dengue, cancer, thalassemia, serious infections, and other such diseases. The need for platelets increases, especially during dengue season, and SDP donation can prove to be lifesaving for a patient in need.

This year, Rotary Prayagraj Sangam has resolved to organize at least one SDP donation program each month during the 2026-27 Rotary Year to help ensure timely availability of platelets to patients in need. In line with this commitment, this campaign held in August symbolized the club’s continued service.

Rotary Prayagraj Sangam President Rotarian Amrendra Singh, Secretary Rotarian Sadhana Srivastava, Rotarian Parth, Rotarian Sachin Upadhyay, along with other club members and associates were present during the event. Everyone encouraged the blood donors and expressed their gratitude for this noble cause.

Club President Rotarian Amarendra Singh said that blood donation and SDP donation are not just a social service, but a means of saving the life of someone in need. He added that the goal of Rotary Prayagraj Sangam is not just to organize one or two events, but to promote blood donation and SDP donation as a continuous service campaign. The club’s pledge to organize SDP donations every month is an important step in this direction.

Club Secretary Rotarian Sadhana Srivastava expressed her gratitude to all the blood donors, the medical team, and the program’s partners, saying that Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and blood donation couldn’t be a better example of human service. She said that healthy and able-bodied people should come forward regularly to donate blood and platelets, because their small efforts can become a big hope for a family.

On this occasion, the club appealed to all healthy citizens of the society to spread awareness about blood donation and SDP donation and, if necessary, to participate in this service themselves. The club believes that if every healthy person in the society comes forward to donate blood at regular intervals and platelets as per their ability, then many problems caused by blood and platelet shortages can be reduced to a great extent.

This campaign by Rotary Prayagraj Sangam reinforces the spirit of humanity, service, and social responsibility, where the contribution of a blood donor can give a new hope for life to an unknown individual. The club reiterated its commitment to continue such SDP and blood donation programs every month in the future.
