Under PM-RAHAT scheme, treatment facility available, victims benefitting
Prayagraj: To ensure that treatment for road accident victims is no longer hindered by lack of funds or formalities, Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRN) is offering cashless treatment under the PM-RAHAT scheme. Many road accident victims have already benefited from this scheme at the hospital. Under this initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, eligible road accident victims are provided cashless treatment up to Rs. 1.5 lakh for a maximum period of seven days from the date of the accident. The primary objective of the scheme is to save lives by providing prompt medical care to the injured, especially during the crucial “golden hour” after an accident.
Eligible victims can benefit from accidents involving insured and uninsured vehicles, as well as in hit-and-run cases, as per the provisions set out in the plan. In case of an emergency, assistance can also be obtained through the 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). SRN Hospital provides immediate treatment to serious road accident victims through the Trauma Center and related departments. Depending on the patient’s condition, necessary tests, medications, surgeries, and other medical facilities are provided under the scheme’s provisions.
Principal Prof. Dr. A.K. Verma stated that the initial response time after a road accident is crucial for saving a patient’s life. The PM-RAHAT scheme will help reduce delays in treatment due to financial reasons. The relevant departments have been directed to work in coordination to provide timely and quality treatment to accident victims at SRN Hospital. He also appealed to the public to cooperate in transporting accident victims to the nearest competent hospital without wasting time.
Dr. Anil Singh, Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and in-charge of the scheme, stated that under the PM-RAHAT scheme, many accident victims have already been provided cashless treatment at SRN Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, the necessary procedures are completed and treatment is initiated in coordination with the relevant departments. The initial time is crucial in serious accidents, so efforts are made to ensure that financial considerations or necessary formalities do not unnecessarily delay treatment for any eligible patient.
