Prayagraj: Ishwar Sharan PG College, Prayagraj, is hosting a two-day international symposium on the topic “Revival of Indigenous Knowledge Traditions: Tribal Heritage, Cultural Continuity, and Social Transformation” on September 11-12, 2026. Numerous social scientists, academics, and independent thinkers from across the country and the world are participating in this international seminar. Approximately 150 research papers on various topics will be presented in six concurrent offline sessions and over 500 research papers in fifteen online sessions. The seminar is being jointly organized by the college’s English Department and the Tribal Studies Center, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. An exhibition of literature and social science-focused books will also be organized by the prestigious Jaipur-based publisher Rawat Publications and Prayagraj-based Lokbharati.

This international seminar is being coordinated by Dr. Shaista Irshad, Assistant Professor, Department of English, College and co-coordinated by Dr. Vikas Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology and Coordinator, Centre for Tribal Studies.

College Principal Prof. Anand Shankar Singh informed that the inaugural session of this international seminar will feature Professor Himanshu Chaturvedi, Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla; Professor Usha Tandon, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj; Professor D.R. Sahu, President of the Indian Sociological Council; and Professor Daniel Rycroft of the School of Arts, Media and American Studies, University of East Anglia. Renowned sociologists and anthropologists B.K. Nagla, Professor Arijit Kumar Pandey, Professor S.N. Chaudhary, Professor R.K. Mohanty, and Professor R. Shiva Prasad will also grace the seminar with their dignified presence.
