Focus on Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Agriculture, and Bee Health
Prayagraj: The second day of the two-day National Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme for Farmers on Beekeeping featured two important technical sessions focusing on entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture, honey production, bee health and livelihood opportunities associated with beekeeping.
In the Third Technical Session, Dr. Rudrapratap Singh, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Ayodhya, delivered an informative lecture on “Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment Opportunities in Beekeeping.” He highlighted the potential of beekeeping as a viable source of entrepreneurship and self-employment, particularly for farmers and rural communities.
Dr. Nitin Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Nitins Bees Innovation Centre, Barabanki, delivered an impressive presentation on “Beekeeping as a Sustainable Agricultural Enterprise.” He discussed the journey from honey production to value-added bee products and highlighted the significant contribution of beekeeping to rural livelihoods and sustainable agricultural practices.
The Fourth Technical Session focused on the health and management of honeybees. Dr. Vinod Kumar Dubey, Assistant Professor and Entomologist, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, College of Agriculture, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Ayodhya, delivered a lecture on “Major Pests and Diseases of Honeybees and Their Management.” He explained important bee pests and diseases and discussed appropriate measures for their prevention and control. Mr. Nimit Singh, Founder, Madhumakhhiwala, Barabanki, also delivered an engaging and informative presentation, sharing practical insights related to beekeeping and its possibilities as an income-generating activity.
The programme concluded with the Valedictory Session. Dr. Kamin Alexander, Convener of the Two-Day Workshop-cum-Awareness Programme for Farmers and PI, Department of biological Science , Dr. Kamin Alexander expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, all three Pro Vice-Chancellors, the distinguished speakers, participants, farmers and everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the programme.
She appreciated the valuable contribution of all the experts and participants and emphasized that such programmes can play an important role in promoting scientific beekeeping, entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood development. The two-day workshop concluded on a positive note, with participants gaining valuable knowledge about modern beekeeping practices, honey production, bee health, entrepreneurship and value-added bee products.
