Prayagraj: The ancient Dadhikando fair of Sulem Sarai was inaugurated with all its divinity and grandeur, following the centuries old religious tradition, on Sunday at 8 pm with the worship and aarti of Lord Shri Krishna-Balram in the Thakur temple situated at Sulem Sarai. The special guests were MP Praveen Patel, ADM City Satyam Mishra, MLA Siddharthnath Singh, Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, BJP Metropolitan President Sanjay Gupta, former MP Keshari Devi, former Mayor Abhilasha Gupta and Dr. Sushil Kumar Sinha, former MP Shailendra Kumar, former Satyaveer Munna.

After the worship and aarti of the Lord, with royal splendor, riding on a symbolic elephant and a silver howdah, Shri Krishna and Balram along with their entourage came out to give live darshan to the devotees. The flag-pattern in front of the group, DJ band, procession of Ganesh, Hanuman, Vishnu, Durga and Shankar ji, Dhammal party of 40 members and brass band group were the centre of special attraction. Along with drums and cymbals, more than 25 lighting committees will illuminate the fair with modern lighting. More than a dozen stalls based on Krishna Leelas and social messages kept displaying their tableaux in the entire fair area throughout the night.

The fair, led by its president Piyush Kesarwani, started from Sulem Sarai Thakur Dwara and after offering prayers at Mai Ji Kutiya situated at Sulem Sarai, Jayantipur, Pritam Nagar, Dhummanganj, PAC, reached back to Thakur Dwara via Meera Patti, Transport Nagar, Mundera Chungi and ended there. The entire fair area, from Chowfatka to Begum Bazaar, was illuminated with modern colourful lights, spreading its unique charm the entire night. People enjoyed the swings till late night along with the tastes of Anarsa, Sohan Papdi, Chaat, fast food at various places. Loudspeaker competitions continued at the intersections. A huge crowd gathered at the Dadhikando fair, devotees were eager to get a glimpse of the Lord. People thoroughly enjoyed the fair the entire night. There were tight security arrangements at the fair; a large number of police, PAC, RF, civil police personnel were deployed throughout the fair. The team was led by fair chief Narendra Kheda, Virendra Kesarwani, Dharamchand Jaiswal, general secretary Mukesh Sahu, treasurer Ankur Rastogi, in-charge Subhash Kesarwani, coordinator Piyush Jaiswal, Gulshan Arora, Atul Kesarwani, spokesperson Himanshu Nikki Gupta, Dhananjay Singh, Nirankar Sahu, Rakesh Kesarwani, Sunil Kesarwani along with fair committee officials and dignitaries were present.
