Prayagraj: In the sequence of various programs organized under the Official Language Hindi Week (10.09.2026 to 16.09.2026) at Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidyalaya (RTMM), Constituent Allahabad University, Malviya Nagar, on Wednesday, a special lecture and closing ceremony was organised, in which the special lecture was on Hindi journalism by Professor Kumar Virendra Singh of Allahabad University, Convener, Official Language Implementation Committee, Allahabad University.
The program began with the lighting of lamps by special guests Professor Kumar Virendra Singh, coordinator Neelima Singh, and Professor Namita Yadav, under the guidance of patron principal Professor Ajay Prakash Khare. Dr. Varsha Agarwal, the stage director, introduced the chief guest. Thereafter, the report of the weekly programme was presented by the programme coordinator Professor Neelima Singh.
After that, in the lecture of the chief guest, the contribution of Bharatendu Harishchandra ji in Hindi journalism of Banaras was discussed in detail and the fact was also highlighted that today 61 crore people in the world are Hindi speaking, this fact is a matter of pride for Hindi.
Also, at the BRICS summit, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian journalists saw the presentation of the song in Hindi language as a global dimension.
Prof. Kumar Birendra explained in detail the subject matter of economic, social and political issues described in Bharatendu’s magazine Kavi Vachan Sudha and also clarified that although Udand Martand is considered the first Hindi magazine, real Hindi journalism was seen in Kavi Vachan Sudha.
The way Bharatendu Harishchandra ji fought the challenges in the field of journalism and threw light on Kavi Vachan Sudha, Harishchandra Magazine, Navodit Harishchandra Chandrika and Balkrishna Bhatt’s Hindi Pradeep magazine was a new experience for the Hindi world. The winners were ranked as follows: In the general knowledge competition, Anurag Tiwari (Ishwar Sharan Degree College), Vaishnavi Kesarwani (Rajarshi Tandon Women’s College), Lakshmi Kesarwani (Rajarshi Tandon Women’s College) jointly secured first position, Shrashta Tiwari (Ishwar Sharan Degree College) secured second position and Vikas Singh (K.P. Training College) and Pooja Kumari (Jagat Taran Girls Degree College) jointly secured third position.
In the self-composed story competition, Raja Bhaiya (Ishwar Sharan Degree College) got first place, Shrashta Tiwari (Ishwar Sharan Degree College) got second place and Khushi Yadav (Rajarshi Tandon Women’s College) got third place.
In the essay competition, Meenakshi Soni (Rajarshi Tandon Women’s College) got first place, Anmol Tiwari (Ewing Christian College) got second place, Swati Bhartiya (Jagat Taran Degree College) got third place.
In the competition of recitation of poems of Hindi poets, Meenakshi Soni (Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidyalaya) was awarded first place, Zainab Khan (SS Khanna Degree College) was awarded second place, Arjit Gangwar (Ishwar Sharan Degree College) and Samridhi Gupta (Allahabad University) were awarded third place jointly and Arpita Tripathi (Allahabad University) and Prabha Tiwari (KP Training College) were awarded consolation prize jointly.
At the end of the program, the program coordinator, Professor Neelima Singh, proposed a vote of thanks.
