Prayagraj: The city is mourning the death of former councilor Kamlesh Dada, popularly known as Ganga Putra and Dada, who was a pillar of Prayagraj’s social consciousness and social service. An epitome of simplicity, honesty, and unwavering commitment to the public interest, Kamlesh Dada was elected three times as an independent councilor and exemplified a true public representative by consistently raising the voice of the people to the highest platforms.
Service even in death—’Dada’ became immortal by donating his eyes: Kamlesh Dada, who considered service his lifelong spiritual practice, donated his eyes while he was alive. Upon receiving the news of his passing, a team of experts from Manohar Das Eye Hospital, Prayagraj, arrived and, with utmost skill, removed his eye and completed the remaining procedures. Kamlesh Dada had also pledged to donate his body, but due to non-availability of necessary documents, the process of body donation could not proceed further, this added an additional pain to the sympathy of the city.
A mourning meeting drowned in tears—a sea of people gathered at the ghat.
Senior councilor Shivsevak Singh conducted an emotional condolence meeting held at Daraganj Ghat. Discussing Dada’s struggles, his outspoken nature, and his selfless political stance, the atmosphere was filled with compassion and reverence. The city’s political, social, administrative, and judicial forces all joined forces. Mayor Ganesh Kesharwani said that Kamlesh Dada had brought to my attention the problem of the Sangam’s existence being threatened, for which I have spoken to Water Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and submitted a letter for further action. Former MLA Anugrah Narayan Singh said that we have lost one of our hardworking people, which is an irreparable loss for me.
