Municipal Corporation’s initiative under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, public participation transforming road landscape
Prayagraj: In view of the upcoming Digdhikando fair, under the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign run by the Government of India, the Municipal Corporation of Prayagraj launched a special cleanliness and beautification campaign near Yatim Khana, behind Crosthwaite Girls College, Triveni Road, Ward No. 30, Zone 04.
For years, large piles of garbage, encroachment, and illegal parking had hampered traffic on this road. Schoolchildren and the public had to walk through the filth. Under the leadership of the Mayor, Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, and the direction of the Municipal Commissioner, the Municipal Corporation team launched a comprehensive campaign to transform the entire area.
During the campaign, encroachments were removed from the road, garbage heaps were cleared, trees were trimmed, and attractive murals and cleanliness messages were painted on the walls. Local citizens and school children also participated enthusiastically, contributing to the wall painting and beautification. The highlight of the campaign was the installation of benches made from recycled single-use plastic, and the placement of lush green pots to enhance the overall look. People were also made aware of the importance of cleanliness through beautiful slogans and graffiti. A place once frowned upon due to its filth and chaos is now clean, beautiful, and organized, with people sitting and discussing things over tea. Public participation has made this campaign even more effective.
The “Har Dukan Dastak” campaign was also launched during the campaign. Shopkeepers and local citizens were interacted with and encouraged to avoid littering, separate wet and dry waste, and maintain cleanliness. The campaign’s objective is not just to clean the area once, but to maintain it continuously through public participation. Present on this occasion were Councillor Mukesh Lara, Additional Municipal Commissioner Shadab Ji, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Deepshikha Pandey, Chief Tax Assessment Officer Mr. Sanjay Mamgai, Sanitation and Food Inspector Archana Vishwakarma, along with the team from the Municipal Corporation of Prayagraj and members of the IEC team—Srishti Waste Management Services. Public participation has transformed the landscape—clean roads, beautiful walls, and a message of cleanliness.
