Lal, Vice Chancellor of Sam Higginbotham University of Agriculture and Sciences, Prayagraj, Shuats Naini Prayagraj is registered under the Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Protection Act 2001 (Ministry of Farmers Welfare) by the Government of India for the conservation of various extinct indigenous seeds. Farmers were informed by Dr. S.D. McCarty, Director of Research, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture, Directorate of Research, (SHUATS) distributed the registered certificate of extinct native species received by the Government of India. (Ministry of Farmers Welfare) The project was operated by the Government of India from the Director of Research, SHUATS Prayagraj in which An application for registration of various extinct native seeds preserved by more than 500 farmers was sent to the Government of India. In which, after testing the seeds sent, the certificates of the farmers were distributed today on November 28, 2024.

Community seed banks were also operated by the above project, one Gangapar Community Seed Bank in the name of Umesh Patel, Ramaipur, Prayagraj and the other Jamunapar Community Seed Bank in the name of Chandraprakash Kushwaha Tikri Taluka Kanjasa, Jasra Prayagraj. At these same places, farmers collected various extinct native species like paddy, wheat, millet, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, spices etc. and sent applications for registration through the Director of Research (SHUATS), Prayagraj. The chain of certificates includes Dharam Singh, village Bakkhopur, Prayagraj, in the name of Blackgram (Kali Urdd), Sajan, village Puraini, Prayagraj, in the name of Puraini Til, Shyam Babu Kushwaha, village Shivpur, Prayagraj, in the name of Shivpur Til. , Ashrafi Lal Patel, village Poorekhagan, Prayagraj, in the name of Ashrafi Til, Amravati Devi, village Chitvishram, Mirzapur, in the name of Amravati Til, Rakesh Kumar Patel, village Bakkhopur, Prayagraj, in the name of (Kali Urdha), Reenu, village Karanpur, Prayagraj, in the name of (Kali Urdha), Laxman, village Kalyanpur, Chitrakoot. , In the name of Laxman Urd, Gharm Narayan, Village Bakkhopur, Prayagraj, (Kali Urdha) was registered in the name of Radheshyam Singh, village Ramaipur, Prayagraj, Radheshyam Moong. These varieties were registered under the protection of extinct native seeds by the Director of Research, Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Protection Act 2001 (Ministry of Farmers Welfare), Government of India. For this unique initiative of the farmers, Honorable Vice Chancellor Most Rev. Prof. Rajendra B. Lal congratulated the farmers for improving their efficiency and economic condition.
