Anil Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME), North Central Railway, has been assigned the additional charge of Principal Chief Safety Officer (PCSO), North Central Railway, with effect from 1st August 2026. With this dual charge, Dwivedi will now steer both the Mechanical and Safety departments of NCR, alongside his existing responsibilities as PCME — a significant addition to a tenure that began on 1st January 2026, when he took over as PCME following the retirement of Sunil Kumar Bharti.

A 1992-batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), Dwivedi is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT), Sultanpur. Over a distinguished career spanning the North Eastern Railway (NER) and North Central Railway (NCR), he has held key technical and administrative assignments, including Diesel Loco Shed (Gonda), Loco Operation (Lucknow), Gorakhpur Workshop, Senior DME (C&W) Prayagraj, and Secretary to the General Manager, NCR — a role marked by high-level administrative efficiency. He also served as ADRM/Prayagraj, where he played a pivotal role as Nodal Officer during the successful conduct of Ardh-Kumbh 2019, and more recently as Dean, Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE).

Dwivedi’s career reflects a strong record on both the operational and safety fronts. He has been recognised with several accolades for efficiency and fiscal responsibility, including the Minister of Railways (MR) Award for the Gonda Diesel Shed’s performance, along with commendation letters and appreciation from senior railway and government leadership for his contribution to safe and meticulous planning of the Ardh-Kumbh mega-event.

Railway officials have expressed confidence that Dwivedi’s dual charge will further strengthen coordination between the Mechanical and Safety wings of NCR, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency, asset reliability, and passenger safety standards across the zone.
