Enthralled audience with captivating performance of battle between Goddess Shakti & Mahishasura

Prayagraj: Wednesday evening at the Diwali Crafts Fair, organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was a dance drama. The captivating performances of song, music, and dance on the Muktakash stage captivated the audience. A large number of people enjoyed the cultural programs along with shopping. The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest Professor Krishna Gupta, Head of the Department of Political Science, Prayagraj University, and Center Director Sudesh Sharma, who lit the lamp. Program Advisor Mrs. Kalpana Sahay welcomed the Chief Guest with a bouquet of flowers.

The cultural evening began with Birha singer Kanchan Lal Yadav’s rendition of “Sita Bala Panwa Jhulat Rahi Jhoolana,” which filled the atmosphere with devotion. Ragini Chandra then enthralled the audience with her renditions of “Devi Pachara Geet Lale Rang Sindoora Ba…” and “Humare Mirzapur Me Almasti Ke Jal Bada Bemisal Ba Na.”

Shivnarayan and his fellow artists presented a captivating performance of Chakri and Ghoomar, showcasing the folk dance traditions of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The highlight of the program was the dance drama based on “The Battle of Goddess Shakti and Mahishasura,” presented by Ravi Kushwaha and his fellow artists. They brought the nine-day battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura to life through their expressions, postures, and music. The glory of the Goddess was effectively depicted through the praise of “Jayanti Mangala Kali” in the dance drama. The enactment of the nine forms of the Mother Goddess in the “Navdurga” section was captivating. The finale, depicting Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura, enthralled the audience.
