“Tashna Samman” kicking off to spread Urdu literature, poetry, and ghazal
Prayagraj: Member of Parliament Ujjwal Raman Singh paid a passionate homage to the late Shakir Hussain ‘Tashna’, a veteran journalist, master poet, and talented Mushaira-Nizamatkar of Urdu literature, at his home in Kareli. On this occasion, the Vishwa Janchetna Trust India announced the creation of the distinguished literary award “Tashna Samman” to conserve and promote the great history of Urdu literature, poetry, and ghazal.

This prize is being established in remembrance of the late Shakir Hussain ‘Tashna’, who believed journalism to be his life’s religion and selflessly served Urdu literature, carving himself a separate identity in the literary world with his sensitive, simple and influential personality. On this occasion, social worker Asrar Niazi stated that Shakir Hussain ‘Tashna’ was a strong pillar of both Urdu literature and journalism, and that this award is a fitting tribute to his contributions.

Amjad Hussain ‘Ravi’, the late Tashna Sahib’s son, stated that the ‘Tashna Samman’ is an important attempt to continue his father’s literary interests, beliefs, and ideals. Advocate Bakhtiyar Yusuf commended Tashna Sahib’s grasp of both Urdu and Hindi, referring to his personality as a symbol of literary unity. Dr. Rahul Shukla ‘Sahil’, National Vice President of Vishwa Janchetna Trust India, stated that the organization’s Urdu branch, Bazm-e-Ahbaab, will continue to organise magnificent mushairas and sher-o-shayari, giving Urdu literature a new direction. Dignitaries present at the event included Mahmood, Mohammad Akbar Ali, Moin Habibi, Mohammad Shahab, Talat Mahmood, Kaushar Rizvi, S.M. Rizvi, Mohammad. Many literature lovers and social workers including Danish, Yasin, Advocate Farhan Alam, Suhail Akhtar, Awasaf Nisar, Saif Ali, Asad Hussain Tabi, Asad Qureshi, Mohammad Qadir, Shariq Siddiqui, Kausar were present. The organisers expressed hope that “Tashna Samman” will not only continue the literary legacy of the late Shakir Hussain ‘Tashna’, but will also forcefully transmit the tradition, decency, and literary dignity of Urdu literature to future generations.
