Discussion on proposed river and dam projects for strengthening renewable energy capacity & storage ecosystem
Nandi directed to ensure timely resolution of PSP projects
Prayagraj: To accelerate the development of Pumped Storage Power (PSP) projects, Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi held a high-level review meeting in Lucknow’s Pickup Bhawan auditorium on Tuesday. The meeting discussed water availability issues for proposed projects on the Son River in Sonbhadra district, the Muskhand Dam in Chandauli, the Adwa Dam in Mirzapur, and the Belan River in Prayagraj. Special emphasis was placed on removing regulatory and procedural hurdles for the smooth implementation of approved PSP projects. These projects will play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s renewable energy capacity and energy storage ecosystem. Reiterating the commitment of the double engine government in the operation of Pumped Storage Power (PSP) projects, Minister Nandi said that the problems will be resolved within the stipulated time frame. Minister Nandi said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred state for investment. He said that the state government is promoting the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies as well as a strong Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) system. Assuring all possible cooperation to the project developers, Minister Nandi said that all the problems will be resolved soon by establishing better coordination between the departments.
Land-related issues were a key agenda at the meeting, particularly discrepancies between forest and revenue records. The Minister directed the Forest and Revenue Departments to coordinate discussions and ensure timely resolution for PSP projects. The meeting was attended by representatives of 10 leading developers including Greenko Energies Pvt Ltd, JSW Energy, Avaada, Torrent Power, Jharia Pvt Ltd, Adani Green Energy Ltd, THDC, ReNew Group, GSC and Vensar.
Additional Chief Secretary, Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Alok Kumar, and CEO, Invest UP, Vijay Kiran Anand, along with other senior officials, were also present on the occasion. The Additional Chief Secretary assured the developers that the state government is working in a timely manner to resolve all related issues, ensuring the speedy implementation of the projects.
