By celebrating birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Aryabhatta at protest site, pledge taken for social justice and equality

Prayagraj: The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU)’s indefinite strike against irregularities in sewer line and road construction in the Transport Nagar area continued for the fifth day on Tuesday. During the strike, farmers vehemently protested corruption, disregard for standards, and haphazard construction.

During this time, under the leadership of Youth State President Anuj Singh, the birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and the great mathematician Aryabhata were celebrated at the protest site. A large number of farmers, laborers, women, and youth participated in the program and pledged to defend social justice, equality, and constitutional rights.

Those participating in the protest alleged rampant corruption and lack of planning in the construction work. Roads are first built, then demolished to lay sewer lines, causing double hardship for the public. Incomplete work and deep potholes have increased the risk of accidents. Furthermore, the negligence and lack of accountability of the concerned officials are evident.

According to BKU officials, quality is being neglected in construction work and government resources are being misused, which will not be tolerated at any cost. The organization stated that an important meeting will be held at the protest site on April 15th at 11 am, where the strategy for the proposed major protest at the Municipal Commissioner’s office on April 16th will be decided.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union has warned that the protest will continue until strict action is taken against the erring officials and contractors and transparency is ensured in the construction work. The organization called it a fight for public rights, transparency, and justice and vowed to intensify the movement.

Under the leadership of Youth State President Anuj Singh, a large number of farmers, laborers and women including Manju Pathak, Sushma Pal, Poonam, Pankaj Pasi, Advocate Mohammad Tariq, Parmesh Nishad, Shubham Tiwari, Ashu Pasi, Ditin, Amit were present at the protest site.
