Prayagraj: The Department of Pediatrics, Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj, organized a “Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)” to address how to save a newborn baby in an emergency situation such as respiratory arrest immediately after birth. The program was part of a national campaign led by the National Neonatology Forum (NNF) in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Prayagraj branch.

The program provided training in basic and life-saving techniques for providing immediate treatment to newborns who are unable to breathe at birth or in other critical situations. A total of 42 physicians participated in the training, including pediatricians, obstetricians, and anesthesiologists.The program’s course coordinator, Dr. Ritu Jain, former president of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, served as the lead instructor, while Professor Dr. Manisha Maurya, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, provided practical training to participants in essential techniques of neonatal resuscitation.

Prof. Dr. Anubha Srivastava, former President of IAP Prayagraj Dr. Arun Kumar Maurya and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Department Dr. Shahid Akhtar Siddiqui also played an important role as trainers in the training program. Medical College Principal Prof. V.K. Pandey praised the program, saying that learning basic techniques for timely and appropriate resuscitation of newborns can save a large number of children. He added that this can also reduce complications from perinatal asphyxia and neonatal mortality.
