Prayagraj: On the occasion of the foundation day of Hindi daily newspaper, web portal and YouTube channel Kashish Media, a grand ‘Shaan-e-Uttar Pradesh’ awards ceremony was organised on Sunday at the UP Press Club, China Bazaar Road, Hazratganj, Lucknow. Senior journalists, litterateurs, social workers, educationists and eminent personalities from various fields from the state and country participated in the programme.
In his address, the chief guest of the program, former Director General of Police (DGP) and Food DGP Dr. Surya Prakash Shukla, said that journalism plays a crucial role as the fourth pillar of democracy. Journalists serve as a powerful bridge between society and government. He said that impartial, fearless, and public-interest journalism guides society in the right direction, and journalists should always remain committed to truth and ethical values.
In his address, Chief Guest, CMO Bahraich, Dr. Santosh Kumar Srivastava, said that journalists play an important role in spreading awareness in society. The media’s role in bringing issues related to health, education, and social concerns to the public is commendable. He added that positive journalism contributes significantly to social development and public welfare.
A journalists’ meet was held during the program, where journalists’ safety, problems, and the changing journalistic landscape were discussed in detail. Speakers emphasized the need for unbiased and public-interest journalism and highlighted the important role of media in society. Kashish Media Editor Mohammad Zia Siddiqui said that journalism is not just a profession, but a powerful medium of responsibility and service to society. He added that journalists who highlight public issues and bring about positive change through unbiased journalism always deserve respect.
The program was successfully conducted jointly by Sudhir Singh and Anand Srivastava. Journalists and writers from various regions of the country and state, including Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Agra, Varanasi, Haridwar, Sonbhadra, Banda, Delhi, Bhopal, and Ujjain, participated in the event. On this occasion, journalists, writers, and social workers who have made notable contributions to journalism, literature, education, medicine, social service, and culture were honored with the “Shaan-e-Uttar Pradesh Samman.” At the end of the program, the honored writers and guests were thanked. The ceremony strengthened the spirit of dialogue, unity, and respect among journalists, further empowering their responsibilities to society.
