Meeting of lawyers held near Ambedkar statue High Court
Prayagraj: A meeting of advocates was called on Sunday near the Dr. Ambedkar statue in the High Court to protest against the chamber allotment process. It was led by senior advocates. A large number of advocates addressed the meeting. The advocates unanimously demanded to ensure free chamber allotment by cancelling the current Chamber Allotment Rules 2026. The senior advocates elaborately presented the shortcomings of the allotment process before the advocates and requested everyone to protest unitedly till the current allotment process is cancelled. Despite the continuous protest of the advocates for the past one month, there is great anger among the advocates due to the Bar Association not finding a proper solution and the injustice being done to the advocates by not calling a general meeting on this issue. It is noteworthy that in the ongoing agitation led by Advocate Dharmendra Singh since June 2, it was decided to strongly oppose the proposed bylaws amendment until the tainted chamber allotment process is amended on July 6. It was also said that if the Bar Association does not immediately consider the demands of the advocates, then a general meeting will be called on July 6 at 10 am under Section 32 of the High Court Bylaws Act and the format of the agitation will be considered by consensus. The meeting was conducted by Anil Kumar Verma.
