Police raids continue, four named accused still absconding

Prayagraj: Police on Wednesday arrested two more accused in the sensational bombing and firing incident that occurred on July 5th in Bamrauli village, under the Puramufti police station area. The arrested accused have been identified as Ehtesham and Abu Uzaifa. Both have several criminal cases registered against them. Police produced them in court and sent them to jail. Previously, accused Salim had been arrested in this case.

According to the police, raids were conducted at several locations in Prayagraj and Kaushambi until late Tuesday night in search of the attackers. Ehtesham and Abu Uzaifa were arrested in the Puramufti area during this period. Police say Ehtesham has six cases registered against him and Abu Uzaifa has two cases registered against him.

During interrogation, the arrested accused, Salim, admitted firing with a pistol. Meanwhile, the plaintiff, Mashroor, alleges that the attackers fired with rifles and pistols and also threw bombs. The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, a video of which also went viral.

According to police sources, most of the accused are from the same family and are said to be relatives of Abid Pradhan, a former shooter for the mafia boss Atiq Ahmed. A few days ago, a case was filed against them for stopping a young man on the road, assaulting him, and vandalizing his vehicle. The victim, Mashroor, told police that he had gone to a guava orchard with his brothers when the accused, who were lying in wait, opened fire and threw bombs with the intent to kill them. Their Thar vehicle was damaged in the attack.

Puramufti police station in-charge Avinash Kumar Singh said that three accused have been arrested and sent to jail so far. Four named accused—Abu Talha, Danish, Shamshulain, and Shoaib—are still at large. Efforts are underway to arrest them.
