Prayagraj: On the occasion of World Population Day, an population awareness program was organized at Nehru Gram Bharati Deemed University (NGBU) nder the aegis of the Arts and Culture Committee. The theme of the program was “My Commitment Towards Sustainable Development.” Activities including “Pledge Wall Signature Activity,” and a tree plantation drive were conducted; faculty members and officials signed the pledge board, expressing their commitment to sustainable development.
The primary objectives of the program were to raise awareness regarding population and sustainable development, encourage environmental conservation and responsible resource utilization, strengthen the institution’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and foster a sense of participation and social responsibility within the university.
Addressing the gathering NGBU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Brij Bihari Tiwari stated, that the youth are the strength of our nation, and he emphasized the need to channel their energy in the right direction. In his address, Mr. Namit Mishra, Secretary NGBU remarked that given the rate at which our population is growing, we must consider the availability of resources. Dean (Academic) Dr. Savyasachi, Dr. Alok Mishra, Dr. Ashish Shivam, Prof. R.C. Tripathi, and Registrar Mr. S.S. Mishra also addressed the gathering.
On this occasion, the faculty members and officials present took a pledge—administered by the Dean of Student Welfare, Dr. Chhaya Malviya—to spread awareness regarding water conservation, reducing plastic usage, tree plantation and conservation, gender equality, and sustainable development. Dr. Uttam Kumar conducted the proceedings, Dr. Sunil Mishra delivered the welcome address, and Dr. Monika Gupta coordinated the program and proposed the vote of thanks.
