Distributed breast pumps, protein supplements and fruits to pregnant women
Prayagraj: The Rotary Club of Prayagraj Sangam successfully organized its special service project, “Matri Vandan,” dedicated to maternal and child health, at the District Women’s Hospital (Dufferin Hospital), Prayagraj, with utmost dignity and service. The program’s objective was to strengthen the health of postpartum mothers and the nutrition of newborns, and to provide essential health supplies to needy mothers.
As part of the program, breast pumps, protein supplements, and nutritious fruits were distributed to postpartum mothers admitted to the hospital. They were also provided with useful information regarding the importance of breastfeeding, postpartum nutrition, maternal health, and proper newborn care. Rotary members explained that proper postpartum nutrition and adequate protein are essential for the mother’s speedy recovery and the infant’s well-being. The hospitalized mothers and their families expressed their happiness and gratitude to the Rotary family for this service.
On this occasion, Club President Rotarian Amarendra Singh said that Rotary has always stood with the vulnerable and needy sections of society, and maternal and child health is one of Rotary’s key service areas. He added that a healthy mother is the foundation of a healthy society, and the club continues to conduct service activities to this end.
The program was led by Rotarian Dr. Madhushree Das, Chair – Maternal & Child Health. Rotarian Dr. Sandeep Shukla, Rotarian Dr. Amit Tripathi, Rotarian Mandeep Srivastava, Rotarian Dr. Ankit Srivastava, Rotarian Sonam Agarwal, Rotarian Vartika Singh, Rotarian Geetika Asthana, Rotarian Shweta Agarwal, Dr. Priyam Dubey, Dr. Vidisha, and several other club members and doctors were present.
At the event, Dr. Sunita, SIC of the District Women’s Hospital, and Dr. Noorus Hasan, CMS, wholeheartedly praised Rotary Prayagraj Sangam’s humanitarian and health-promoting initiative. They said that providing breast pumps, protein supplements, and nutritious fruits to pregnant women is a highly useful and commendable effort, directly benefiting the health of mothers and the nutrition of newborns. They expressed their hope that Rotary will continue to organize such public welfare programs in the future.
All Rotary members and the District Women’s Hospital administration provided significant support in the successful organization of the event. Finally, Club Secretary Rotarian Sadhana Srivastava expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, doctors, hospital administration, Rotary members, and colleagues present.
The “Matri Vandan” program once again proved that Rotary Prayagraj Sangam is continuously fulfilling its commitment to provide service, compassion, and health care to every segment of society. With the spirit of “Service Above Self,” the club will continue to organize such public welfare and socially beneficial service projects in the future.
