Prayagraj. The Lok Sevak Mandal Prayagraj organized a cultural program on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon. The program began with the garlanding of Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon’s portrait and the lighting of lamps.

Chief Guest, Professor Harish Pratap Singh, Member, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, Prayagraj, said that the founder of Lok Sevak Mandal, the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, established Lok Sevak Mandal with the aim of upliftment of the poor, farmers, illiterate women and the deprived sections of India. He said that Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon ji, on the strength of his sacrifice, penance and good deeds, imbibed the ideals of Lala Lajpat Rai and made an unprecedented contribution to nation building through Lok Sevak Mandal. He dedicated his entire life to getting Hindi the respect of the official language.

Special guest Shri Rajiv Shukla, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Prayagraj, said that Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon’s entire life was dedicated to national development, social harmony, and the upliftment of those at the bottom of society. He said that Tandon was not only a politician but also a renowned journalist, writer, thinker, and skilled administrator.

The program was presided over by Mr. Brahma Prakash Tiwari, Secretary, Lok Sevak Mandal, Prayagraj. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Shiv Sevak Singh, Senior Member, Lok Sevak Mandal Local Advisory Committee, Prayagraj, and Senior Councilor, Municipal Corporation, Prayagraj.
